Sterling Bank of Asia supports San Juan’s BJMP Livelihood Program

Sterling Bank of Asia (SBA) has selected San Juan City’s Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)
as one of this year’s beneficiaries of their annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the Kind
    Heart Gives Campaign.

Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of San Juan City’s BJMP showcased their craftsmanship in their parolmaking
project, which also serves as an opportunity for them to support themselves and their families
financially. The “parol,” which is one of the most iconic symbols of Filipino Christmas, is a staple
    decoration in most houses.

“The parol is a great expression of the Filipinos’ faith and hope,” said Cecilio San Pedro, SBA’s President
and CEO. “We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our support to the PDL’s of San Juan City as we
move towards a brighter Christmas celebration in these challenging times,” San Pedro added.
During the announcement of the activity, Sterling Bank of Asia employees also ordered their own parols
to bring home and hang in their homes.

“It is inspiring to see how our fellow employees happily bought their own parols as a way of helping
these persons deprived of liberty,” said Dulce Edillor, SBA’s Human Resources Group Head. “From a
company-led initiative, our fellow employees voluntarily involved themselves in the project,” exclaimed
    Edillor.

  • Users Can Show their Appreciation For MSMEs Through ‘#TatakPinoy: Shopee Celebrates Local’

Users Can Show their Appreciation For MSMEs Through ‘#TatakPinoy: Shopee Celebrates Local’

Users can now vote for their preferred local sellers and win prizes.

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, and Taiwan, continues to support local sellers and uplift the digital economy with the launch of the #TatakPinoy: Shopee Celebrates Local contest. From November 19 to December 5 2021,  users can vote for and support their favorite sellers in time for the 12.12 Big Christmas Sale.

#TatakPinoy: Shopee Celebrates Local recognizes 12 Filipino sellers who offer locally made products and their inspiring journeys to success with Shopee. Besides having to source and offer goods that are proudly Pinoy, the brand also shortlisted these entrepreneurs, who come from various categories such as lifestyle, fashion, and FMCG, based on shop ratings and number of reviews.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “As we rebound from the impact of the pandemic, we want to strengthen our efforts in aiding economic recovery. Supporting local sellers is a very impactful way to do that, and we want to rally our users to support these sellers as well. This is what Shopee Supports Local is for — highlighting the local sellers in our platform, and giving our shoppers the opportunity to show their appreciation as well.”

Supporting Local Sellers, Key to Aiding Economic Recovery

With the pandemic driving consumers to rely more on e-commerce platforms for their needs, more brands and sellers continue to embrace digitalization to sustain their livelihoods. Recently, the Philippines saw an increase of 12 million new digital consumers since the start of the pandemic, of which 63% are from non-metro areas[1]. Shopee continues to improve the platform to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) catering to the needs of the Filipinos.

The top three sellers, based on total user votes, will win gadget prizes that are useful for their online business. On top of that, theirs and a few other shortlisted sellers’ inspiring stories and sought-after products will be featured on Shopee Live on December 8 and 11.

Meanwhile, users who will participate in voting and share why they love their chosen seller on social media will have the chance to win special vouchers.

Getting to Know the 12 Sellers

    Indianajanemnl

Launched in 2019, Jess opened a clothing store, Indianajanemnl, and went from a one-man shop and grew into a 30-person team this 2021. With the desire to build deeper connections with their consumers, she maximized Shopee Live and all its features. Through Shopee Live, she received customer feedback which helped them improve the store.

    Chelssydresstaytay.ph

Considered as one of the pioneer stores in the well-known Taytay Tiangge, Rochelle of Chelssydresstaytay.ph decided to shift to online a few months before the pandemic hit. It proved to be a good move, with the shop hitting its targets consistently.

    Luxeessential

As a form of self-care, Hani of Luxe Essential decided to put up an online store where she can earn while staying at home. Despite the ups and downs of online selling, her determination eventually paid off, and can now support not only her family but her staff’s family as well.

    Uniq.mnl

Uniq.mnl is owned by Ireen and Ira, two sisters who combined their stores into one. Transitioning wasn’t easy and they worked hard to maintain customer satisfaction by utilizing Shopee’s in-app tools. With clear goals, the shop ended 2020 with an 8-figure gross profit.

    Orangeandpeach

Orange and Peach Philippines is a 100% Filipino Mom and Baby Essentials Store owned by Jasslyn. She struggled to convert sales due to some limitations but even with the setback, it didn’t stop her from trying, and eventually gained the consumers’ trust.

    Randashoesofficial

Randashoesofficial started as a small shoe manufacturing facility in 2014 and Ric joined Shopee as a seller in 2019, making it a full-time commitment. The challenges pushed him to do better and are now growing on the platform – even surpassing their previous sales.

    Mightyclean

Wanting to share their expertise in the homecare industry, Mico from Mightyclean started his Shopee Seller journey during the height of the pandemic last year. Even though he had become one of the best-selling brands on the platform, he never stopped learning new things and continued to sharpen his entrepreneurial skills.

    Dnemnlph

Dana of dnemnlph started selling online when she was in high school and has had her fair share of ups and downs before she first joined Shopee in 2015. Despite having to close her shop temporarily, she stepped up and worked with her Shopee Relationship Manager to learn how to build brand awareness for her store. To date, she has more than 225,000 shop followers.

    Localidad.ph

Daniel of Localidad began his Shopee journey last year and got his break in November 2020. His experience on Shopee was a great opportunity to learn about e-commerce in general and eventually succeed in the industry, with more than 60,000 products sold and counting.

    Emsalvadorpunzalan

Em used the power of technology to offer a wide array of DIY car care detailing products through her shop Prestige Trading. As a former saleswoman, the main proprietor found joy in interacting and connecting with their customers.

    Gratitudebar

Faced with a financial crisis in 2017, Ces of gratitudebar launched her Shopee store which offers skincare products that are simple, affordable, and effective. With the use of in-app features, the brand gained more loyal customers.

    Mareclothingph

When Zel started selling on Shopee, she knew it was a learning journey and discovered a lot of new things. Now, she has a strong customer base and feels grateful for the overwhelming support and trust from her loyal customers.

  • Hidilyn Diaz and Jollibee support Filipino athletes to reach their dreams

Hidilyn Diaz and Jollibee support Filipino athletes to reach their dreams

Many know Hidilyn Diaz as the first Filipino Olympic gold medal winner, but few know how hard the road was for this champion weightlifter before she reached her dream.

Having started weightlifting at age eleven, Hidilyn took years of practice, hard work, and grit to overcome the challenges that came her way. She even had to create makeshift weights using concrete and mag wheels when she was just starting out. After four Olympic stints in a span of 12 years, including a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the London edition of the Games, she finally had her golden moment at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. But even then, the road wasn’t easy—due to the pandemic, she had to train in Malaysia away from her family and she once again had to use makeshift weights in an outdoor gym.

    Elreen Ando (Weightlifting)

Just like Hidilyn, many Filipino athletes also dream of their moment atop the podium. It is indeed a daunting task, with only a few given a chance to even qualify in the Olympic games. This is why Hidilyn, with the help of Jollibee, aims to pay it forward and help shape the next generation of Filipino champions.

Jollibee, as a proudly Pinoy brand, will be donating a part of the proceeds from every purchase of the Champ & Joy Super Meal to the Philippine Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission.

“Jollibee has always believed in the heart and strength of Filipinos and that we can shine even at a global stage. Together with Hidilyn, we want to help nurture and support more Filipino athletes so they too can reach their dreams and continue bringing pride and inspiration to the country,” said Arline Adeva, Assistant Vice President and Head of Brand PR, Engagement, and Digital Marketing.

    Rogen Landon (Boxing)

Hidilyn also plans to donate weightlifting equipment for the grassroots program of the Philippine Sports Commission and the Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas.

Para mas ma-increase yung awareness about weightlifting at sana, ma-realize ng mga bata na posible na ma-achieve nila ang dream nila sa Philippines by starting out sa weightlifting,” she said before adding that she also plans to train athletes herself.

Hindi naman ako forever na atleta. So kailangan na may kasunod na may ma-train ako na maging championnext to me. Kasi it’s not all about me, ang gusto ko, hindi lang ako ang champ, kundi lahat tayo,” Hidilyn said.

Julian Macaraeg (Short Track Speed Skating)

Rogen Landon (Boxing), Julian Macaraeg (Short Track Speed Skating), and Elreen Ando (Weightlifting) are just some of the Filipino athletes who hope to bring pride to the country in their respective sports, with the support of the Philippine Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission.

You can also do your part in supporting aspiring Filipino athletes with the Champ & Joy Super Meal. This delicious and filling combo includes a Champ burger, 1-pc. Chickenjoy with rice, and a free Go Large Coke drink. As an added treat, customers will also get a special paper packaging featuring Hidilyn herself and a limited edition Hidilyn Diaz collectible card with every order of the Champ & Joy Super Meal. The meal is available for only PHP 240.00 in select Jollibee stores nationwide until November 30, 2021.

Have it safely delivered to you via the Jollibee App, JollibeeDelivery.com, #87000, GrabFood, and foodpanda! You may also enjoy it via Dine-in, Drive-Thru, and Take Out.

Hidilyn Diaz aims to nurture the next generation of Filipino champions through Jollibee’s Champ & Joy Super Meal where a portion of the proceeds from every purchase will be given to the Philippine Olympic Committee Athletes’ Commission.

  • Investing in Gold Made Easy

    Investing in Gold Made Easy

Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry and its premium line together with Just Jewels offer discounted jewelry for nationwide Gold Rush Sale

Gold enthusiasts and budding collectors will get the chance to purchase jewelry items at more affordable prices this November 15 to 20 as Cebuana Lhuillier, together with Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry Premium, and Just Jewels, stages this year’s Gold Rush Sale.

Get five percent off on all items from Cebuana Lhuillier branches and up to 30% off on its premium line and Just Jewels, as well as on eCommerce platforms like Lazada, Zalora, and Shoppee. The sale includes jewelries offered in all of Cebuana Lhuillier’s 2,600 branches, as well as in selected Just Jewels and Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry Premium outlets located in SM and Ayala Malls nationwide. You can also buy online through Cebuana FB Live Selling and cebuanalhuillierjewelry.com

The upcoming sale is a good opportunity to start building a solid jewelry investment. With the easing of quarantine restrictions and with impeding bonuses coming this Holiday season, customers are expected to splurge on buying presents for their selves and their loved ones. While others will gravitate towards purchasing luxury items, the best kind of investment is one that does not depreciate in value, like gold jewelry.

“There is always a misconception that investing in jewelry is expensive and reserved only for the privileged. The truth is that there are many ways to build a collection—coming from trusted sources like jewelry shops, pawnshops, and with the advent of digital selling, even in online stores; and with a range of prices depending on your budget. Truth is, there is no better time to start investing in jewelry than today,” shares Cebuana Lhuillier president and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier.

He adds, “Through the years, the value of gold was always on an upward trend. While it’s trendy to go for the latest gadgets or high-end phones every year; it’s better to invest in jewelry which will serve its owners well especially during times of need.”

Over the years, gold was able to maintain its value in the market. Unlike other investments that are susceptible to inflation, gold and other precious metals perform well even when the economy is bad.

From November 15 to 20, 2021, Cebuana Lhuillier, together with Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry Premium, and Just Jewels, holds the 2021 Gold Rush Sale. Buyers can get 5% off on all items from Cebuana Lhuillier branches and up to 30% off on its premium line and Just Jewels, as well as on Lazada, Zalora, and Shoppee. The year’s biggest jewelry sale includes jewelries offered in all of Cebuana Lhuillier’s 2,600 branches, as well as in selected Just Jewels and Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry Premium outlets located in SM and Ayala Malls nationwide. Buyers can likewise participate online through the Cebuana FB Live Selling event or through www.cebuanalhuillierjewelry.com/.

To know more about the latest offers or to know where to get the best deals for the Black Friday Sale, go to the Cebuana Lhuillier, Just Jewels or Cebuana Lhuillier Jewelry Premium Facebook pages.

  • Shopee excites shoppers and uplifts businesses with new record of over 2 billion items sold across 11.11 Big Christmas Sale

Shopee excites shoppers and uplifts businesses with new record of over 2 billion items sold across 11.11 Big Christmas Sale

Local sellers saw a massive boost, with orders surging 18 times for those taking part in the sale for the first time.

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, sets two new records at the year’s largest shopping festival, 11.11 Big Christmas Sale. With a huge array of irresistible deals, shoppers across the region bought over 2 billion items across the festival period, smashing its previous record in 2020. Excitement peaked on November 11, with visits spiking 5.5 times in the first two hours compared to an average day.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said,“It brings us great joy to see the impact of our 11.11 Big Christmas Sale on shoppers, businesses, and our local communities. The digital economy continues to present many opportunities for growth, and we want to enable more people to benefit from this growth by increasing e-commerce adoption and helping more consumers and businesses go online. At the same time, we are humbled that we can use our platform to give back to the wider community and support those in need. We look forward to creating more impact for our users in the months ahead.”

Helping more shoppers access, benefit from the digital economy

11.11 Big Christmas Sale encouraged more people to access and enjoy the benefits of online shopping, particularly those outside major cities where digital awareness has been relatively lower. This resulted in an 5-time increase[1] in the number of shoppers from rural and smaller towns, who were able to enjoy the convenience of accessing a wider variety of products on Shopee.

Beyond convenience, the 11.11 Big Christmas Sale also brought shoppers and businesses closer together. More than 3.5 billion messages were sent on the in-app Shopee Chat on November 11, as shoppers were able to interact live with sellers and get more information prior to making their purchases.

As a secure and seamless mobile wallet, ShopeePay continued to accelerate adoption of digital payments at the 11.11 Big Christmas Sale. Across the region, more shoppers used ShopeePay to pay for their Shopee orders seamlessly, especially outside big cities where ShopeePay transactions grew 9 times from an average day.

  • Shopee Provides MSMEs with All-Around Marketing Support to Grow their Online Business

Shopee Provides MSMEs with All-Around Marketing Support to Grow their Online Business

Shopee assists MSMEs in their e-commerce journey from on onboarding and trainings to enhanced marketing tools and strategies.

As society becomes more digitalized, e-commerce plays a significant role in helping groom and grow entrepreneurs who can meet the needs of consumers. More people in the region are coming online, and this number is expected to reach around 380 million by 2026[1]. In order to help brands and MSMEs establish and strengthen their online presence, Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, focuses on developing a strong support ecosystem that makes it simple for them to launch and grow their online business.

This includes enhanced marketing tools, knowledge sharing and upskilling, as well as sustained guidance from Shopee, to help business owners tap into various markets, increase their monthly average sales, and achieve notable e-commerce growth as a whole.

    Shopee Seller Education

Shopee provides the necessary support and seminars to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the e-commerce knowledge they need to succeed. Just this year, Shopee launched its first Shopee University Summit where industry leaders, successful online sellers, and top brands shared their expertise to help sellers understand the basics of e-commerce and how they can maximize the potential of e-commerce and succeed in growing their business online. The second summit also proved to be a success with 35,000 online viewers. During the summit, participants learned about developing the correct business branding, product photography skills, and leveraging Shopee tools and social media platforms to promote their businesses.

Shopee sellers can also access Shopee’s Seller Education Hub (https://seller.shopee.ph/edu/home) where they can take helpful e-commerce courses, participate in informative webinars, and read articles about shop management, product listings, operation improvements, and other business matters.

    All-Around Support from Relationship Managers

In addition to marketing tools readily available for use within the app, Shopee also provides MSMEs with constant guidance on how they can improve and grow their business through highly-trained relationship managers (RMs). To fully support a seller’s growth, RMs push for excellent service and tend to the seller’s inquiries, and sometimes going out of their way to cater to the seller’s e-commerce needs.

Kriszel of M A R E Clothing said that their relationship manager helped them greatly, even encouraging them to join big campaigns to grow their business more. “Our relationship manager was very helpful all throughout our Shopee journey. During big campaigns, we were given ample exposure on in-app features like Shopee Feed. Last 10.10, we earned more than 2,000 followers thanks to Shopee’s feature Feed Freebies. We are very grateful for the guidance we received and it is a big factor in our shop’s success.”

    Campaigns that Meet Consumer Demand

In addition, Shopee also supports its sellers through big campaigns as local MSMEs stand to benefit from the increased traffic to supercharge their business growth and scale their online presence. Throughout the region, sellers who participated at the recent 9.9 Super Shopping Day recorded 8X more orders compared to an average day, and this coming  11.11 – 12.12 Big Christmas Sale, Shopee continues to provide sellers with marketing tools to further drive sales. The 11.11 – 12.12 Big Christmas Sale is happening until December 12, 2021, and serves as an opportunity for sellers to provide consumers with promos that include ₱1 deals, free shipping with no minimum spend, and 10% off daily vouchers.

    Digital Payment Options with ShopeePay

As digital payments become more integrated into the daily lives of consumers, ShopeePay serves as a multi-functional tool for all their payment needs while providing rewards and safe transactions. Through Shopee’s year-end campaigns like the 11.11-12.12 Big Christmas Sale, ShopeePay will continue to drive greater adoption of digital payments amongst shoppers and merchants, bringing ShopeePay users greater convenience and value while helping businesses access more opportunities in the digital economy.

Martin Yu, Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “To grow in e-commerce, brands and businesses need to be committed to their journey and here at Shopee, we ensure that we are here to guide and support them all throughout. This is why we designed our ecosystem to be end to end: onboarding, training, and scaling their business to meet the demands of their customers. The needs of our stakeholders are ever-changing, and this is why we need to keep evolving.”
