  • Quick microwave cooking that is not only healthy but cost-efficient as well

Quick microwave cooking that is not only healthy but cost-efficient as well

There’s no need for the chef in you to feel unaccomplished when you prepare home-cooked meals with a microwave. Given that microwave-prepared food are quick and easy to make and actually healthier to eat (more on that later), Midea Microwave Ovens are also very wallet-friendly.

But to get a clearer picture of its advantages, and since school season is in full swing, here is a hearty two-minute microwave French Toast recipe that your kids can enjoy eating without you breaking a sweat preparing.

You’ll need to cube two slices of bread and place those pieces in a mug. Separately, prepare a bowl that contains a combination of one egg and three tablespoons of milk, topped with a dash of cinnamon. Pour that egg mixture into the mug and press down the bread cubes so it can fully absorb the liquid. Microwave for one minute, and then ten seconds at a time until fully cooked, then you’re set.

Again, this meal only requires two minutes of preparation time. In the world of the hectic morning rush when both you and your child are trying to make it to the office and school on time, spending only two minute on a task should feel like heaven.

On top of that, meals like this, that are prepared with a microwave not only retain its nutrients better but also obviously requires no oil, reducing fat by 10% versus frying, which means it’s healthier.

These innate microwave benefits of quick and healthy cooking are definitely also present in Midea Microwave Ovens. But what makes the deal even sweeter is its economical “Piso Meal” feature.

At just P1 worth of electric operating cost, users can cook with Midea Microwave Ovens for three minutes—the usual amount of time it requires to microwave-cook most meals. Of course, that means the two-minute microwave French Toast presented earlier costs even less than P1.

This feature is available in both the mechanical and digital formats of Midea Microwave Ovens. Named after each product’s control feature, the Mechanical Microwave Oven has a push-button door opening method and operates with an output power of 700W with a standard voltage of 220V/60h. It comes in silver and white.

Meanwhile, the Digital Microwave Oven, which features a pull door opening method, operates with the same standard voltage but with an output power of 900W.

Under the fast-paced life we live in, there’s no time to settle for the ineffective and the inefficient. So the next time your child hears the recess bell, make sure what he pulls out of the lunch box is not only healthy, but prepared without a fuss.

For more information on Midea’s products, check out their website at http://midea.com.ph/ and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MideaPhilippines.

  • Workplace that builds on your success

Workplace that builds on your success

When it comes to employee satisfaction, factors like competitive pay, benefits, and work responsibilities are common considerations that shape the playing field. However, specialists are now looking at the correlation between a location’s general climate to career satisfaction and overall business success.

SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) operates under this concept. The affiliate of SM Investments Corp. has invested on the E-Com complex to ride and sustain the booming business growth in the country by providing a progressive work environment.

David Rafael, Senior Vice President of SMPHI explained, “Companies are investing in the Philippines because of three things. World-class facilities, competitive labor cost, and its educated workforce. Maintaining that growth momentum means we have to keep these factors intact.”

He continued, “How do you do this? By creating infrastructure that is conducive to both the business and the workforce.”

The E-Commerce complex located within the Mall of Asia township is built around the concept. Comprised of One, Two, and Five E-Com Center, the steadily rising business district is designed to offer a good balance of accessibility, infrastructure, and lifestyle opportunities for work-life balance.

Also currently in the pipeline is SM Prime’s first Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building Three E-Com center which is slated to be completed by 2017. Four E-Com center, which has broken ground this year, is also expected to be operational by 2020.

One E-Com center opened in 2008 followed by Two E-Com center in 2012 to much success. Five E-Com center, which contributed an additional 88,000 sqm leasable area to the business complex last year has also reached full occupancy since opening its doors last year.

Three E-Com Center and Four E-Com Center will both add a gross floor area of 111, 727 sqm and 123,968 sqm respectively to the growing business district.

The master planned buildings are specifically designed to cater to information technology businesses which have been flooding the country during recent years. Recently, the SM Central Business Park or SM iCity 3, which includes the area of Three and Four E-Com, has also been declared as a PEZA Special Economic Zone.

“The focus should not only be in fostering business growth but in cultivating a dynamic work environment for the people operating there,” said Rafael. “A business district should be well-rounded and capable of standing by itself.”

SM Prime’s vision for its E-commerce centers is supported by a strong suite of resources within the township. Besides from the place being accessible to employees through major thoroughfares, the area also has lifestyle destinations for a more versatile experience. A stone’s throw away is top shopping destination Mall of Asia and entertainment venues SMX Convention Center and SM Arena.

Leisure developments like Microtel and the soon to be operational Tryp Hotel and Conrad Hotel are also included in the township. Residential developments under SM Residences (Sea, Shell, Shore, and Shore 2) are also within close proximity of the area.

Boosting the convenience of the business district are also expansion of infrastructure. Additional floors in the North and South Parking building are in the works as well as an additional pedestrian footbridge that will connect the office buildings to the lifestyle and parking spaces.

“Boosting the business sector should be fueled by support from all aspects. This means providing the right infrastructure and a good working environment. If the workforce is happy, growth will definitely follow,” Rafael closes.

About SM Prime: SM Prime Holdings, Inc. is the property arm of the SM Group of Companies, which has major business interests in banking and retail sectors apart from property segment. M Prime has developed key establishments in the residential, office, hotels and other leisure-oriented projects.

  • “Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine celebrates World Sleep Day 2016 with Uratex”

“Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine celebrates World Sleep Day 2016 with Uratex”

The Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine (PSSM), the primary organization that aims to promote sleep medicine healthcare in the Philippines, again led in the celebration of World Sleep Day 2016.

The World Sleep Day 2016 slogan is “Good Sleep is a Reachable Dream” and this year, Multiflex RNC Philippines, Inc., makers of Uratex foam and mattress products, lent its wholehearted support to the PSSM in its efforts to help promote good, healthful and restful sleep.

During the celebration of World Sleep Day 2016, the PSSM held its 10th annual symposium entitled “Sleep Matters: Discovering the Importance of Sleep” recently at the EMG Auditorium of the Lung Center of the Philippines. There were various workshops and lectures on many sleep-related concerns for adults—and even in children—that elicited interests from symposium guests.

The PSSM is just one of the many organizations around the world that advocates the importance and educates people about the value of good sleep, which many people lack or perhaps do not pay attention to due to today’s fast-paced lifestyle and blinding-speed technology. Various studies have already shown that lack of restful sleep because of irregular work and lifestyle may lead to health problems in the future. Or even having an incorrect mattress may harm the body rather than provide the restful sleep it needs after a long and hard day at work.

This is why the PSSM reiterates the important elements of good sleep, which are “Duration” or the sufficiency of sleep to become well rested and alert the following day; “Continuity,” which means sleep time should be continuous and unbroken; and “Depth,” that sleep should be deep enough to be restorative or invigorating. Quality sleep, the PSSM said, is very crucial to one’s good health and quality of life. It said that good quality and invigorating sleep is important for people’s day-to-day functioning, even in children for their overall wellness and development.

The PSSM also cited the 10 Commandments of Sleep Hygiene, according to the World Association of Sleep Medicine or WASM, such as having a fixed bedtime and waking up time, no daytime sleeping in excess of 45 minutes, avoiding excessive alcohol intake 4 hours before bedtime or smoking, avoiding intake of caffeine such as those in coffee, tea, most sodas, including chocolate 6 hours before bedtime; avoiding heavy, spicy or sweets 4 hours before bedtime, but a light snack is acceptable, exercising regularly but not before bedtime, using comfortable bedding, finding comfortable temperature when sleeping inside a well-ventilated room, blocking out distracting noise and less light as possible, and limiting the use of the bed to just sleeping.

For its part, Uratex supports the PSSM through its own advocacies in promoting good sleep in the Philippines.

“Uratex has always been humbly supporting efforts to promote good sleep, a much-needed bodily activity that unfortunately many people do not pay attention to or perhaps, do not know how to achieve it because of various reasons. Simply put, it all boils down to adapting to a more healthy and less-stressed lifestyle, a positive mindset toward life, and choosing the correct mattress depending on the body’s shape and contours, and this is where Uratex can help,” explains Dindo Medina, Corporate Sales Director of Multiflex RNC Philippines.

As the country’s sleep specialist, Medina said Uratex will continue to help Filipinos achieve helathy and superior sleep by continuously developing and bringing innovative mattresses and other sleep solutions.

The PSSM is a group composed of several specialists involved in the practice of sleep medicine in the country and are highly trained to address sleep disorders among Filipinos. Pulmonologists, Neurologists, Ear, Nose and Throat specialists, Psychiatrists and Pediatricians are among those that comprise the group and have expressed interest in the process and study of sleep.

Here in the Philippines, the practice of sleep medicine is still relatively young compared to other countries so it is no surprise that even other doctors do not know that such practice exists here. But the practice is, indeed, growing, even in Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) member countries. In fact, the Philippines will serve as host of the 4th ASEAN Sleep Medicine Congress in 2017 where it will share vital knowledge with other countries about sleep. Together, this collaborative meeting will also help determine how the different cultures of these countries can impact on their actions with regard to sleep concerns.

For more information about the value of good sleep to one’s health, visit the PSSM website, thepssmi.org. To find out more about the Uratex mattress and other sleep solutions, call the Uratex Consumer Hotline, 888-6800 or visit www.uratex.com.ph.
