    Baro A Laoag Street Dance Competition 2025 was held on February 10, 2025 at J. P. Rizal St. (In front of Aurora Park & Ilocos Norte Capitol), City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

    Pamulinawen Festival 2025’s Baro A Laoag Street Dance Competition 2025 was performed by eleven (11) Secondary Schools in Laoag City with Dance Challenge and Dance Showdown in the city’s main street with a dazzling display of artistry and tradition.

    The Board of Judges in both the street dance and showdown competitions are Mr. Jonas V. Dizon from Pangasinan, Prof. Restituto Dagupan City, Mr. Geo Patrick Buenavista from Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan, Dr. Lloyd Rosquita of DepEd Ilocos Norte, Ms. R.E. Guerrero Brillantes from Vigan City, Mr. Joshua Isidera of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Mr. Rodel Mayor Fronda the Chairman of the Philippine Folk Dance Society.

    The organizers and the production team was headed by Atty. Charito Malicad, City Tourism of Laoag Officer and Production Team, Direk Anthony “Tonton” Salva, the Creative Director, and Mr. Janjan Carbonell, Overall Choreographer.

  • Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL! – Comedia Ilo-Ilocana 2025

    The Comedia Ilo-Ilocana 2025 was held on February 10, 2025 at Laoag City Multi-Purpose Center, City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

    An Ilocano Comedy play performed by Theater Normal Laboratory, a theater company of the students who are inclined into performing arts of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). The characters of Comedia Ilo-Ilocana 2025 has performed well with their creative skills and talents in performing onstage in line with the theme “PREVAIL” of Pamulinawen Festival 2025 which resonates with the spirit of unity and progress in the diverse City of Laoag and beyond.

    The play features Ilocano culture and its heritage through traditional dances, music, costumes, and performances that include folklore and stories about the livelihoods of Ilocano people.

    I watched the whole play of the Comedia Ilo-Ilocana 2025, and was a successful Ilocana Comedy play, in deed.

    Grand Float Parade 2025 at Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL!

    The Grand Float Parade 2025 was held on February 09, 2025 at J. P. Rizal St. (In front of Aurora Park & Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol, City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

    Grand Float Parade is one of the activities of Pamulinawen Festival that most watched or viewed by the diverse persons in Laoag City and other diverse communities. The participants were thrilled in unveiling or showcasing their creative and artistic floats, that was applauded by the huge audiences during the Grand Float Parade 2025 at Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL!

    Hon. Michael Marcos Keon, Mayor of City of Laoag, led the Grand Float Parade 2025, together with Vice Mayor Rey Carlos Fariñas and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod namely Hon. John Michael Fariñas and Hon. Roger John Fariñas. Led the parade on the first float, accompanied by a stunning array of 12 small floats and 26 big floats.

    The members of the Board of Judges are Arch. Arnold Palagua Dabo, Arch. Dacia Nicael P. Salva, Arch. Naomi Raisa S. Aquino, Ms. Jem Juan Gaoiran and Ms. Loejai Lopez, the Chairman of the Board of Judges.

    Congratulations to all the winners in both the small float and big float categories.

    Calesa Parade 2025 at Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL!

    The Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL! – Calesa Parade 2025 was held on February 07, 2025 at J. P. Rizal St. (In front of Aurora Park & Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol, City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

    Calesa Parade 2025 in Laoag City is part of the Pamulinawen Festival 2025 that represents of the city’s rich cultural heritage, and remarkable that reminds the importance of Calesa in the diverse community and beyond. Calesa is a cultural heritage mode of transportation of the diverse people in the community and a source of livelihood of the contingents in Laoag City. Besides, Calesa is considered as attraction of the local and international tourists, and this will bring success and increase or promote tourism in Laoag City.

    The successful event was witnessed by Mayor Michael Marcos Keon, Vice Mayor Rey Carlos Fariñas and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod namely Hon. Jeff Fariñas, Hon. Roger John Fariñas, Hon. John Michael Fariñas, Hon. Derick Lao and Hon. Juan Conrado Respicio II.

    According to Mayor Keon, each calesa, meticulously decorated with indigenous materials, colorful ribbons, and traditional Filipino fabrics, exuded an air of nostalgic elegance. The horses, adorned with intricate braids and tassels, pranced proudly, embodying the grace and grandeur of a bygone era. The parade itself was a spectacle of creativity and craftsmanship.

    The calesa drivers guided their embellished carriages through the streets, showcasing a stunning array of designs and themes. Some calesas boasted motifs inspired by the city’s history, depicting scenes of

    Laoag’s colonial past and its journey to the present. Others celebrated the natural beauty of the city, with floral arrangements and indigenous materials.

    “Prevail” is the theme of Pamulinawen Festival 2025, which resonates with the spirit of unity and progress in the diverse City of Laoag, nearby diverse communities in Ilocos Norte and beyond.

    During this event, “Pamulinawen Festival 2025: PREVAIL!”, diverse participants, attendees, tourists and concerned citizens will experience the vibrant energy of the City of Laoag as we celebrate our triumphs and embrace the future with hope and optimism. Pamulinawen Festival contributes tourism and as one of the major economic elements of Laoag City.

    The Grand Opening Parade of City of Laoag’s Pamulinawen Festival 2025, themed “PREVAIL” was held on February 01, 2025 at J. P. Rizal St., (In front of Aurora Park & Ilocos Norte Provincial Capitol), City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Region 1 (Ilocos Region), Philippines.

    Pamulinawen Festival 2025’s theme “‘Prevail” resonates with the spirit of unity and progress, according to the City Tourism of Laoag. The government agency extend their invitation to join the festivities of the Pamulinawen Festival 2025 to experience the vibrant energy of our city as we celebrate our triumphs and embrace the future with hope and optimism.

    Mayor Michael Marcos Keon, City of Laoag, mentioned that the Pamulinawen Festival 2025 commenced with the vibrant Civic-Military Parade with a participants of estimated to be more than eighty thousand (80,000) individuals with enthusiastic onlookers lining the parade route and those who gathered at the plaza to watch the festivities.

    The Pamulinawen Festival 2025 PREVAIL! Grand Opening Parade was led by Mayor Michael Keon, Vice Mayor Rey Carlos Fariñas and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod namely Hon. RJ Fariñas, Hon. Jeff Fariñas, Hon. John Michael Fariñas, Hon. Derick Lao, Hon. Juan Conrado Respicio, Hon. Enrico Ang, Hon. Handy Lao, Hon. JB Baquiran, Hon. Bryan Alcid and SK President Michael Christophe Agustin.

    The diverse people in the community has witnessed the grand opening parade showcased a diverse representation of society, featuring participants from national government agencies, uniformed service, civil society organizations, the education sector, barangay officials and workers, various other community groups and employees of the city government.

    The City Official were also honored by the presence of the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan namely Hon. Rodolfo Christian Fariñas III, Hon. Franklin Dante Respicio and Hon. Donald Nicolas who joined the stage to welcome the participants.
