BPI offers flexible payment options to Art in the Park 2023 fairgoers

Looking to build your art collection on a budget? Don’t miss this chance as the annual Art in the Park, famed for being the most anticipated affordable art fair in the country, returns outdoors on March 19, at Jaime Velazquez Park, Makati City to mark its 17th year of celebrating and championing Filipino artistry.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) once again teamed up with Art in the Park 2023 to offer flexible payment options for fairgoers with BPI Cards when they shop for art at the exhibit-sale, which runs for one whole day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“BPI has been supporting Art in the Park for continuously uplifting the vibrant Filipino art scene and for providing a platform for our valuable contributors of art whose works truly merit more support and respect. It also makes art accessible to Filipinos, helping them learn more about art and Filipino artists,” said Jenny Lacerna, BPI Product and Sales Head for Unsecured Lending and Cards.

For this year’s edition, 60 exhibit booths representing galleries, art collectives, independent art spaces, and student groups will be showcasing and selling an assortment of exceptional pieces by seasoned and rising artists.

One of the galleries that will be participating is Art Cube Gallery featuring Isko Andrade for special exhibits.

“Art Cube Gallery has been a backbone of the Philippine contemporary art scene since it was established in 2012 for helping Filipino artists get their well-deserved spotlight,” said Lacerna.

The said Gallery provides a platform for talented young artists to showcase their works before an extensive roster of art collectors, as well as help promote the careers of seasoned artists by giving art aficionados a broad access to their work in international art exhibitions. The gallery has so far mounted over 100 art exhibitions here and abroad involving award-winning and seasoned artists, as well as promising young painters and sculptors.

Francis Eugene E. Andrade, also known as Isko Andrade, is a young artist based in Bulacan who has been known for sharing his stories through his artworks that evoke a sense of nostalgia. He received several awards and citations such as Shell National Student Art Competition and Metrobank Art Design Excellence Competition. He is a graduate of fine arts with a major in visual communication at Bulacan State University.

For his show titled Intersections II, Andrade uses knots as his art subject to depict his own impression of ‘persevering’ by utilizing oil paint on canvas.

Lacerna said art as an asset remains an auspicious investment as it tends to hold its value over time in contrast with other asset classes whose value has the propensity to decline sharply when the market crashes.

“What’s really enticing about collecting and investing in art is that aside from having a potential lucrative return in the long-term, they can also make stunning display pieces at home,” she said.

BPI Cardholders can enjoy an exclusive Real 0% Special Installment Plan for up to 6 months and buy now pay 3 months later using their BPI credit cards.

Organized by Philippine Art Events, Inc. and supported by BPI, Art in the Park will continue to benefit the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in support of its projects and programs for the National Museum of the Philippines and its network.

BPI celebrates National Arts Month with a Special Treat for Cardholders at the annual ‘Art in the Park’

Park is an Art. A place where you can find various kinds or products of art of the great mind of artists with artistic and creative imaginations in the field of art in general.

Art in the Park is celebrating 15 years of champi-oning Philippine artistry with eight days of a virtual open house, featuring 60 exhibitors and over 6,000 artworks by hundreds of established and emerging Filipino artists.

The annual treasure hunt will exhibit artworks on an online platform (www.artinthepark.ph) from February 21 to 28, to allow art aficionados to access the artwork while properly observing health and safety protocols as Manila remains under general community quarantine.

“While there are changes with the way art exhibits are held these days, we still want our clients to get the best experience with this virtual art fair from the comfort of their homes. It’s about letting them re-connect with culture even as this pandemic has cut us off from the world and public spaces. Our clients can also enjoy special offers to make their Art in the Park purchases more feasible and flexible,” said Jenny Lacerna, BPI Head of Unsecured Lending and Cards – Product and Sales Group.

Garibay has received numerous awards for her works in oil and watercolor. She has been actively participating in group shows since 2005, and has dedicated herself to be-ing a full-time artist, consistently holding annual solo exhibitions. Her Disrupt 5 series plays with the feeling and state of disruption and suspension of order.

Meanwhile, Delgado was awarded the regional winner at the Philippine Arts Awards (Vi-sayas Selection) in 2020, and was participating in group exhibitions since 2016. Delga-do’s Compound Believe and How Much? is a take on Filipino beliefs and how these affect our daily lives.

  • BPI encourages small business owners to use QR code cashless payment for security and convenience

BPI encourages small business owners to use QR code cashless payment for security and convenience

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) recently rolled out its Cashless Negosyo webinar series in North Luzon, which aims to boost the ability of small entrepreneurs to adapt to the new reality as consumers turn to e-commerce due to quarantine constraints amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to BPI, digital payments will aid small business owners to ensure personal, employee, and customer safety. This will help them abide by the government’s minimum health protocols, and enables them to offer their goods and services online or via delivery. It also allows them to reach as many customers despite quarantine restrictions.

“BPI provides cashless payment option to small business owner or sole proprietor clients of the bank and help minimize if not eliminate waiting lines in their stores because their customers can just scan the QR code simultaneously to pay for their purchases. That is why for small business owners who will be generating their own QR code, it is important to make QR standees so that customers can check out faster,” said BPI Division Head for North Luzon, Marwin Galvez.

BPI reiterated that cashless payments made via QR code is not only faster and safer, but is also more accurate than using electronic fund transfer as payment option because it’s less prone to typing erroneous details compared to doing fund transfer by inputting the 10-digit account number. It eliminates the risk of transferring money to a wrong account.

BPI noted that from 70 percent in March this year, the number of transactions done digitally have now increased to 90 percent in November. More than half of its 8 million clients are also now registered to the bank’s digital platforms for their everyday banking needs. Small business owners may promote their cashless payment option to encourage and reassure customers that it is still safe to shop through this contact less payment method. “We encourage small business owners to make use of the QR code system as a way of protecting them and their clients as the market shifts to more online transactions and digital living in the new normal,” Mr. Galvez added.
