  • Loving Your Homeland and Drive Better Recovery

Loving Your Homeland and Drive Better Recovery

The COVID-19 pandemic plunged the Philippine economy into a recession. However, after months of quarantine, the country started to slowly reopen, thereby driving economic recovery through various means, particularly tourism.

Understandably, tourism was one of the country’s hardest-hit industries as its revenue dropped by 72 percent[1] in the first seven months of the year. Despite this reality, the Department of Tourism believes its recovery can also help the economy regain its losses since it contributed 12.7 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and 5.71 million to employment in 2019, according to a Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) report[2]

As major tourism destinations like Tagaytay, Boracay, Baguio, and Bataan has announced that they are now opening their borders to local tourists while following health protocols, local tourism can potentially help the economy get back on track, says CitiGlobal Realty and Development Inc., a top real estate developer that offers affordable and income-generating properties in the country.

“The pandemic may have given the tourism sector some setbacks like other industries, but still its contributions to local economies and people are immeasurable,” said Gary To, Managing Director of CitiGlobal. “Tourism allows entrepreneurs to gain more opportunities and develop products. Some businesses won’t usually succeed with local communities alone, but exposure to diverse audiences will allow it to grow faster.”

While the country does not need to reopen its borders to foreign tourists immediately, since the pandemic will not likely end soon, slowly opening local tourism opportunities can make an immediate impact. Local tourism alone can help generate revenues for provincial towns, increase local employment, spur demand for local products, and increase local hotels’ occupancy. Indeed, a renewed tourism will impact many industries —CitiGlobal shares just a few of these industries that will rebound from local tourism.

Restaurants and Other Food Services. Some people say you can get to know a person more based on the food they eat, but in this case, you can learn more about a country’s culture and history. Restaurants specializing in local cuisine will have major success with tourism since it can expect more customers who are adventurous and curious about the local cooking.

Historical Locations. Besides nature and tropical islands, historical locations are also attractions for tourists, especially knowledge seekers who want to learn more about history and culture. Since it is an attraction, it can be given more attention and care since this is one of the drivers for tourism.

Souvenir Stores. Every location has its own culture, where even the smallest items can hold a significant meaning to its people, and tourists will most likely want to bring home a remembrance of it with them. These mementos can become other means of income for locals, as well.

Hotels and Other Lodgings. The hospitality industry greatly benefits from tourism since most of its customers would be tourists looking to stay while traveling. Basically, the more tourists there are in the location is equals to more business for the hospitality industry.

The money that tourists bring in allows businesses to grow quickly, especially if they offer a unique service or product that fulfills a tourist’s needs. Opportunities to start a business at locations where tourism booms are the best prospects investors can make to generate more income.

One easy investment people can make to gather more income is to invest in real estate properties in known and potential tourism spots. One investment that investors, even beginners, can make, is investing in Condotels like properties from CitiGlobal. It allows you to passive income, have your own accommodations, and do not have to be hands-on to manage it for customers.

CitiGlobal envisions becoming a top real estate developer in the country, effortlessly putting the country’s best tourism locations on the map through their real estate properties. The company also aims to provide investment opportunities for OFWs to have back in the country and be with their families.

As a flourishing real estate development company in the country, CitiGlobal started as a marketing, landholding, and leasing company back in 2003. But after seeing how responsive and competitive the economy is, it accepted the challenge to become an efficient and lifestyle developer in 2011.

CitiGlobal aims to deliver quality real estate projects that will revolutionize the Filipino mindset on leisure properties. Among their currently open real estate projects are Tagaytay Fontaine Villas, Tagaytay Clifton Resort Suites in Tagaytay, and Diamond Beach Resorts in Palawan. They also have future projects in line in Quezon City, Cubao, Bataan, Tagaytay, Palawan, Panglao, and Davao.

  • Six Considerations for Business Continuity in the Age of Telecommuting

Six Considerations for Business Continuity in the Age of Telecommuting

Across industries, organizations are now relying on telecommuting more than ever. While it has its short-term benefits, business leaders must also leverage the technology in a way that will lead to new opportunities and advancements down the line. In the world of cybersecurity, telecommuting is not considered to be a catalyst for revolutionary change in how organizations architect the security of their networks. Instead, it is seen as a catalyst for evolutionary change that could lead organizations and security leaders to an advanced position. In other words, the security decisions intended to support telecommuting could also help to build resiliency to defend against future cyberattacks.

Leveraging Available Technology to Enable Telecommuting
Below are six considerations for business leaders as they work to execute workforce-enabling goals, allowing their organizations to flourish securely when outside of traditional headquarters while avoiding substantial capital costs for new buildings.

    Enable Snoop-Resistant Connectivity

Teleworkers can connect to their organizations remotely with virtual private network (VPN) software. This software, which is likely already included on the employee’s endpoint computer, will enable snoop-resistant connectivity to remote company applications and data, ensuring maximum protection of assets.

    Employ Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Considering the lack of security controls in place when employees are working remotely, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is critical to protecting data. MFA could come in the form of combining something the remote user possesses – like a “token” on a cell phone – with something this person knows – like a password. This strategy will provide an extra level of security that ensures the user is the authorized employee he or she claims to be.

Leverage Wireless Access Points and Firewalls

Business leaders looking to enhance their telecommuting strategies further should consider leveraging easy-to-deploy wireless access points and firewalls to remote worksites. Pre-configured before they are shipped, these solutions can be automatically set up on-site via zero-touch deployment functionality, ensuring business continuity and support for those remote workers who need additional performance and functionality.

    Increase Agility of Communication Paths

Centralized offices typically feature always-on, dedicated communication links at their headquarters to accommodate the large number of users seated there. With SD-WAN, companies can agilely and securely choose the best communication path for their users at any given time. This strategy supports the changing communications patterns of remote workers, especially as telecommuting becomes more commonplace.

Get the Most Out of the Cloud

Teams that no longer have access to their headquarters’ desktop computers can deploy software applications in the cloud that look and perform like those on their computers in the office. The addition of cybersecurity solutions, such as the ability to support secure SSL connections from any browser to the cloud, enable users to securely access these applications and related data stored in the cloud without increasing complexity for the users or the security operations team.

    Focus on Self-Improvement

One benefit of telecommuting is the extra time that comes from not having to drive into the office every day. Business leaders and their employees should take the time to learn something new or simply refresh their knowledge – one example is taking an online cybersecurity training course to get ahead of the game. By taking the time typically spent commuting to expand their knowledge, individuals can build skills that could be extremely useful down the line.

    Final Thoughts

By focusing on the six considerations noted above, organizations can achieve a more effective and secure remote workforce model. These evolutionary steps toward the future combine core networks with the agility of the cloud and other connectivity solutions to extend the network’s edge beyond the traditional office environment. When combined with appropriate cybersecurity strategies across the edge, core network, and cloud, organizations can ensure business continuity from remote locations while laying the foundation for people and architectures of the future.

The Floating Cottages at La Virgen Milagrosa

Do you consider to travel in the north of the “Pearl of the Orient”? May be you prefer to explore a place where you can experience recreation, peace, hospitality, unique, clean and green environment. Stay relax, because I can suggest a tourist spot for your life light shine bright.

In the past few weeks, I was able to visit the beach in La Virgen Milagrosa located in Barangay Paguetpet, Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. This tourist destination in Ilocos Norte is a place where you can find the La Virgen Milarosa Shrine and white sand beach with floating cottages.

Other amenities includes parking space, comfort rooms and showers and other beach accessories which you can use in swimming and enjoying the calmness of the water in the La Milagrosa beach. Another good thing is that you can find a nearby stores that offers a food service or cook service of your favorite dishes such as Sinigang na “Lapu-Lapu” and other Ilocano of Filipino cuisines.

We enjoyed eating our dishes in the floating cottage we rented in the beach. The gentleness of the waves of the ocean makes the floating cottage swinging with calmness that made us to enjoy the picnic in the La Milagrosa or “Miracolous” beach.

I enjoyed staying in the floating cottage while watching the other floating cottages and persons who are swimming with excitement and joyfulness in the water. The freshness of the air and clearness of the sky makes the rendezvous beautiful for recreation and relaxation.

In Badoc, you can also visit other tourist spots in Ilocos Norte such as Luna Shrine, Luna Park, Badoc Island, Badoc Church and other beautiful beaches.
