Vivo donates surgical masks, letters of appreciation to hospitals, front liners

In an effort to boost the morale of frontliners and further ensure their protection, vivo Philippines has given out appreciation letters and thousands of surgical masks to select hospitals through the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and other local government offices.

The handwritten letters of gratitude and encouragement, and masks were turned over to the OVP for distribution to the Philippine General hospital, and the Bonifacio Global City administration office for distribution to St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City. vivo directly handed similar donations to The Medical City Ortigas.

“With their valiant efforts, our medical frontliners are truly the heroes in this battle we are waging, but we also understand they are also human and can be physically and emotionally exhausted,” said Charisma Buan, vivo Philippines PR Lead.

While most of the letters were addressed to frontliners, some were also directed to COVID-19 patients to give them hope.

“Along with providing much-needed support, we also want to instill hope during this pandemic, especially to the victims and their families. With our modest contribution, we hope to help our medical frontliners in flattening the curve soon.”

  • Greening the future by upcycling one junk at a time

Greening the future by upcycling one junk at a time

    Epson rolls out upcycling initiatives.

Strengthening its commitment to protecting the environment, leading tech company Epson Philippines tied up with various organizations to promote upcycling through eco-initiatives that aim to contribute to solving the country’s waste management problems.

Waste pollution is one of the biggest environmental problems in the Philippines. In Metro Manila alone, around 9,212 tons of waste end up in rivers, estuaries, and other bodies of water, including the Manila Bay, according to a report released by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Epson seeks to promote upcycling, also known as creative reuse, to help prevent these wastes from polluting bodies of water. This process transforms waste or unwanted products into new materials of better quality and environmental value.

In November, Epson conducted an upcycling workshop for the kids and teachers of the Alay Pag-asa Christian Foundation, Inc., a community-based, non-government organization that conducts child-centered programs for the youth and their families.

Epson invited upcycling facilitator Annaliza Dela Cruz to teach the kids how to turn old denim jeans into colorful bookmarks. Art materials and other supplies were also donated to the beneficiaries of Alay Pag-asa as gifts in time for the Christmas season.

Epson also renewed its partnership with the Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB) to conduct an eco-seminar for employees. The company previously invited some officers of DENR-EMB’s Environmental Education and Information Division and volunteers for a seminar on the art of upcycling. This initiative aims to educate and inspire the attendees to live a more sustainable life inside and outside the office.

Epson Philippines Corporation employees participating in the 2nd eco-seminar facilitated by DENR-EMB

This time, Epson employees learned how to upcycle used plastic bottles and other office waste materials by transforming them into desk organizers, ornaments, pencil cases, and coin purses with the help of Upcycle Philippines founder, Adavieve Mella.

As part of its CSR program, Epson Philippines and DENR-EMB also launched the 2nd EcoVision Film Competition (Documentary Edition), an inter-school video-making contest that aims to tap the creativity of university students in raising public understanding of environmental conservation through short documentaries.

With the theme ‘Upcycling Heroes,’ the entries must feature a Philippine-based organization or individual who champions or performs Upcycling as a tool for environmental sustainability.

“We are glad to, once again, partner with DENR-EMB, as well as with other like-minded organizations and individuals in conducting our 2019 – 2020 eco-initiatives. Our eco-initiatives serve as our simple contribution to Epson’s overall environmental vision to be an indispensable company that uses its efficient, compact, and precision technologies to achieve sustainability,” said Donna Ferro, brand and communications head of Epson Philippines.

  • Fight COVID-19 with ProSource Premium Coconut Products – Now available online.

Fight COVID-19 with ProSource Premium Coconut Products – Now available online.

In view of how the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become an alarming global concern, and with a lot of fake news going around on how to combat the virus, it turns out hand-washing is still the best way to fight COVID-19 or any viruses for that matter.  Soap with anti-bacterial and anti-microbial components, is excellent in combating these viruses and bacteria that are present in our hands.

Dr. Fabian M. Dayrit, Ph.D, of the Ateneo de Manila University recently published the benefits of coconut oil with its potent antiviral properties thanks to the presence of Lauric acid (C12). ProSource, one of the Philippines’ leading purveyors of premium coconut oil products, has made it its timely mission to make its array of world-class quality products, including Virgin Coconut Oil based, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial VCO soap readily accessible and available in the most convenient way.

ProSource Organic Coconut Soap, mild yet potent for frequent handwashing.

Apart from groceries and leading drugstores across the country, ProSource saw the value of entering the burgeoning e-commerce and online shopping space, as they recently partnered with Lazada, Southeast Asia’s leading ecommerce platform, Shopee and Beauty MNL, the go-to online beauty destination.

Now, loyal and new ProSource users can shop for their favorite products with ease, on their smartphone or computer, and have these delivered straight to their doorstep.

ProSource Virgin Coconut Oil: Rich in Lauric acid (C12) and its potent antiviral properties thanks to Lauric acid (C12).

What this ultimately means is that enjoying the numerous benefits that ProSource premium coconut products provide has never been easier.

There is also no denying how VCO can do wonders for you, especially in boosting your immune system during times like these.

Another expert, world-renowned health-aging specialist Dr. Nicholas Perricone, asserts that VCO makes for an effective health supplement, especially with the presence of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), which are metabolized into energy by the liver. It also has been noted that MCFA is well-suited for detoxifying as it contains antimicrobial anti-fungal properties and is also observed to increase good cholesterol and lower blood sugar levels.

Coupled with a healthy and nutritious diet, it is suggested that taking a teaspoon of VCO before having breakfast is a good way to start. From there, one can increase their dosage to 1 to 2 tablespoons before every meal, until finally getting accustomed to having coconut oil as part of their daily diet and routine, 3 times a day. Let’s all get started towards good health and good hygiene by supplementing with VCO and VCO soap.

Avail of ProSource premium coconut products today by visiting BeautyMNL at https://beautymnl.com/; Lazada at https://www.lazada.com.ph/;  and their online store at https://prosourcecoconut.com/.
