Cebuana Lhuillier’s services can now be done from home

In the past year, we’ve seen how businesses have switched to digital platforms due to the community quarantine. Many have come up with innovative ways to ensure that they are able to provide their basic services to people at home. One of them is Cebuana Lhuillier, which is one of the most accessible pawnshops in the country with 2,500 branches nationwide.

To further make themselves more accessible, they launched Cebuana From Home (CFH), a platform that gives clients 360-degree access to Cebuana Lhuillier’s services—from cash remittance to pawning.

Here’s a quick rundown of CFH and how the platform can help the general public.

    Pawn from Home

Cebuana Lhuillier has made their pawning service available online to ensure safer transactions. Pawn-from-Home allows clients to pawn jewelry online—they just need to accomplish an application form on the CFH site (https://www.cebuanafromhome.com). After it’s been reviewed, an appraiser from the nearest Cebuana Lhuillier branch will go to the client’s home to appraise the item, negotiate the value, and release the loan.

Other Pawn-from-Home perks include being able to pay for the pawn renewal service interest fee online and redemption of pawned items through the CFH platform.

Hassle-free bills payment and cash remittance

CFH has likewise made it easier to pay bills and send money without leaving the house. The online Bills Payment service provides access to more than 10 billers nationwide. Meanwhile, the remit-from-home feature allows users to send money online through Cebuana Lhuillier agents.

In addition,  one can also avail of Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Broker’s (CLIB) roster of affordable and comprehensive packages, which include Personal Accident insurance, Medical Expenses insurance, and Doctor’s Consultation insurance.

    Reliable express delivery

Because of the continued lockdown, delivery services for everyday needs have increased significantly from last year and Cebuana Lhuillier has made it possible for pawned items, to be sent or delivered, as well. With the Cebuana Lhuillier Express Delivery Service, clients from select pilot areas can have jewelry items and cash delivered right to their doorstep. The brand’s dedicated riders will ensure that items are secure and delivered on time. That way, there is no more need to go out and pick up the bought items, ensuring the safety of the whole family.

These Cebuana From Home services can be accessed at bit.ly/CebuanFromHome. A mobile app, as well as access points via Facebook Messenger and SMS, will be available to the public soon.

  • BPI encourages small business owners to use QR code cashless payment for security and convenience

BPI encourages small business owners to use QR code cashless payment for security and convenience

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) recently rolled out its Cashless Negosyo webinar series in North Luzon, which aims to boost the ability of small entrepreneurs to adapt to the new reality as consumers turn to e-commerce due to quarantine constraints amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to BPI, digital payments will aid small business owners to ensure personal, employee, and customer safety. This will help them abide by the government’s minimum health protocols, and enables them to offer their goods and services online or via delivery. It also allows them to reach as many customers despite quarantine restrictions.

“BPI provides cashless payment option to small business owner or sole proprietor clients of the bank and help minimize if not eliminate waiting lines in their stores because their customers can just scan the QR code simultaneously to pay for their purchases. That is why for small business owners who will be generating their own QR code, it is important to make QR standees so that customers can check out faster,” said BPI Division Head for North Luzon, Marwin Galvez.

BPI reiterated that cashless payments made via QR code is not only faster and safer, but is also more accurate than using electronic fund transfer as payment option because it’s less prone to typing erroneous details compared to doing fund transfer by inputting the 10-digit account number. It eliminates the risk of transferring money to a wrong account.

BPI noted that from 70 percent in March this year, the number of transactions done digitally have now increased to 90 percent in November. More than half of its 8 million clients are also now registered to the bank’s digital platforms for their everyday banking needs. Small business owners may promote their cashless payment option to encourage and reassure customers that it is still safe to shop through this contact less payment method. “We encourage small business owners to make use of the QR code system as a way of protecting them and their clients as the market shifts to more online transactions and digital living in the new normal,” Mr. Galvez added.

Digital Doc program: Send me your QR code

The next time you look to pay your doctor, you may want to ask for his or her QR code — cashless transactions are safer for the patient and doctor alike. Through our Digital Doc program, we enable doctors and medical professionals to enjoy the benefits of digital payments via QR code.

“We are thrilled to share the benefits of cashless transactions — in enabling online health consultations and in keeping us all (doctors and patients alike) safe during these trying times,” said BPI Deputy Head of Marketing Mariana Zobel de Ayala.

“In addition to keeping us safe from COVID-related health risks, the use of QR codes keep your bank accounts safer as well — they are less prone to errors that often happen when keying in account numbers and transfer amounts.” Patients can pay in seconds and for free — by just scanning the QR code and inputting the payment amount. Doctors, in turn, are able to monitor their funds anytime, anywhere through BPI Online or BPI Mobile app. “As BPI, we hope to be a partner for our healthcare professionals — in enabling them with what is needed to adapt to the next normal, and more importantly, to keep them safe, ” she said.

To activate a QR code for free, doctors are invited to log in to BPI Online or BPI Mobile app and select “Other Services,” followed by “QR Generator.” From there, they simply select the account for which they wish to generate a QR code for, and can even add a nickname or label for their QR code — so that it is easily recognizable for anyone they send to. They have the option to include an amount requested for payment — but either way, by clicking “Save to Device” they can access it easily anytime — and send it to their patients as they wish. Beyond the benefits of convenience, BPI’s digital banking platforms offer security features to ensure protection of your data and account information.

Visit the BPI website at https://www.bpi.com.ph/accept-payments-with-a-qr-code to know more about accepting payments via QR code.
