  • Robinsons Bank’s innovations streak gains global recognition

Robinsons Bank’s innovations streak gains global recognition

Robinsons Bank, one of the fastest growing commercial banks in the country, continues to gain global recognition this 2020 for its innovative products and services.

RBank has won the title for the “Best Commercial Bank – Philippines 2020” and the “Fastest Growing Commercial Bank – Philippines 2020” from the International Business Magazine (IBM) and the Global Business Outlook (GBO), respectively.

In 2019, RBank’s revenue grew by 28 percent from its 2018 performance, registering a total of P8.1 billion, driven by a 17-percent expansion in its gross loan portfolio. RBank’s total net income in 2019 rose to P719.4 million, marking a 127-percent increase.

During the first half of 2020, RBank’s profit grew to P 628.32 million, almost four times the P 158.36 million it earned in the same period last year. This is strongly driven by the gains in trading and securities which offset the higher provision for credit losses.

Both IBM and GBO seek to recognize companies that show great potential in “innovation and creativity, and a drive to create value”.

Furthermore,  Robinsons Bank’s GO!Salary Loan Online and the Mobile Credit Investigation Application (MoCA) for GO!Motorsiklo Loans both earned the title “Most Innovative Digital Transformation Initiative — Philippines 2020” in the recently concluded The Global Economics Awards 2020. MoCA was also awarded as the “Best Automated Loan Process — Philippines 2020” by the International Business Magazine.

In addition to this, RBank Sign Up, one of RBank’s newest products, was named as the “Most Innovative Retail Bank Product – Philippines 2020” by the International Business Magazine.

In these changing times, digital transformation and innovation is now more timely than ever. RBank continues to focus on these strategies to ensure that it meets the customers’ needs and to be able to provide them with an easy and convenient banking experience.

Creating Innovative Solutions in a Digital World

RBank is one of the few banks in the Philippines that offers loans specifically for motorcycles. Through the GO!Motorsiklo Loan, RBank aims to bridge the gap between financing opportunities for Filipinos in the lower-income bracket. Partnering with accredited motorcycle dealers, the Bank is hopeful that it can provide easy-to-pay financing options to the underserved market.

However, the challenge that comes along with loan applications is the credit investigation. Both clients and the Bank see that the credit investigation process is lengthy. That is why RBank’s GO!Motorsiklo Loan has implemented its Mobile Credit Investigation Application (MoCA) so that it can process loan applications faster.

With the implementation of MoCA, manpower scheduling improved, client information was made secure, credit reports were generated faster, credit checks were completed immediately, and more importantly, customers were better satisfied, further saving thousands of pesos in man hours under previous manual processing.

    Improving customer experience through innovation

Robinsons Bank’s GO!Salary Loan online is the quickest and most effective way to get a much needed financial boost. Offered to employees of companies under the salary loan program, the GO!Salary Loan is a multipurpose loan facility that’s collateral-free and paid through salary deduction, allowing financial flexibility for clients.

The GO!Salary Loan online addressed the pain points of corporate clients and its employees. It eliminated the rigorous paperwork, the burden of filling out forms and preparing physical documents for the clients, and even the submission of the loan application.

Additionally, since the innovation makes use of an end-to-end digital process, loan applicants can skip the visit to a physical RBank branch to sign loan documents since it can be completed electronically through ePN. As an added security feature, clients are also provided a One-Time-Password (OTP) so they can access and accept forms and initiate the process of their loan release online.

As every step of the loan application process was embedded into the digitalization of the GO!Salary Loan, RBank achieved a reduction in the approval processing time from 1 to 2 weeks down to 1 to 2  working days after the online endorsement of the HR Group, thus remarkably reinventing the landscape of the GO! Salary Loan product.

Furthermore, the innovation reduced man-hours, and maximized productivity. It also reduced risk factors and increased efficiency in the loan approval process. This also allowed for new business opportunities for RBank, since with this new digital application, even companies with branches in far areas of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, may now be served through this digital innovation.

Reshaping banking for the ‘new normal’

The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped the banking industry, making digital banking no longer an option but a necessity. With this challenge, RBank sought to push digitalization further, and with urgency, to address these rapidly changing needs of the Filipino people and continue to provide them with their needed financial services during the critical time.

RBank launched the RBank Sign Up, an online application platform that promises an all-digital process of opening an account with Robinson Bank, last April. RBank Sign Up allows anyone to open a Simple Savings Deposit Account, Regular ATM Savings Account, and a Payroll Account.

With RBank Sign Up, clients who wish to open an account with RBank can do so with just a mobile phone, internet connection, and one (1) valid Identification Card. The application enables a real-time ID detection and a facial recognition feature that allows the instant completion of the application process. Clients will be able to receive their account details within a few minutes of opening the account.

Robinsons Bank continues to chart its path towards digitization with the goal of creating products and services that will enhance the customer experience to provide easier and more convenient banking services to clients.

Robinsons Bank is the financial services arm of the JG Summit Group of Companies, one of the largest conglomerates in the Philippines. It currently ranks 18th among universal and commercial banks in the country, with assets amounting to Php 131.088 Bn as of December 2019.

  • Robinsons Bank rolls out new digital solution with its cardless ATM withdrawal for SAP beneficiaries

Robinsons Bank rolls out new digital solution with its cardless ATM withdrawal for SAP beneficiaries

Robinsons Bank (RBANK) has rolled out a new digital solution that will provide ease and convenience for the thousands of Filipinos that are awaiting their financial aid from the government.

In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), RBANK successfully started the digital disbursement of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) subsidy in Laurel, Batangas.

With RBANK’s new digital solution, beneficiaries were able to receive their SAP payouts through a cardless withdrawal process using RBANK ATMs instead of going through manual disbursement and risk exposure to the Covid virus.

“We, at Robinsons Bank, were eager to partner with DSWD for this initiative. We believe that our efforts have always had the bigger purpose of uplifting the lives of our fellow Filipinos — in line with our advocacy of financial inclusion. With this process, we also provided them with a bank account. We know that with our digital banking solutions, we can, and we want to do our part in helping our kababayan during these hard times,” RBANK Retail Banking Segment Head Salvador “Buddy” Paps shared.

After the success of the initial distribution, RBANK is set to roll out the cardless withdrawal of the SAP payout for the second batch of beneficiaries in Laurel, Batangas, and to more places in the NCR and Albay in the coming weeks.

According to Mr.Paps, RBANK went through a lot of preparation to ensure  that the service will be easy even for those unfamiliar with transacting via the ATM.

    Shifting to digital disbursement

Committed to providing ease and convenience in all its services, RBANK has also trained DSWD representatives so they can readily assist the beneficiaries in completing their cardless withdrawal process. This ensured that the payout will move swiftly and avoid instances that can hold back the queue.

Furthermore, another beneficiary was also very happy with the outcome of the distribution, “Sobrang dali lang po. Wala pang isang minuto nakapagwithdraw na ako. Walang hassle.

The shift to a digitalized disbursement through RBank’s E-Ayuda aims to speed up the distribution process to the beneficiaries. With E-Ayuda, RBank was able to provide the beneficiaries with a bank account that could store the government’s cash assistance, making the withdrawal process easier. They can also choose to upgrade their accounts to a Simple Savings account, to widen the banking features that they can enjoy.

    Securing a safe payout

As hundreds of beneficiaries were expected to flock  the Municipal Hall of Laurel, DSWD and the LGU assisted in managing the crowd for a smooth flow from registration to payout . The presence of the local police helped in maintaining security and order in the premises. The SAP beneficiaries waited comfortably in the municipal gym while they underwent initial screening to ensure a faster process with their withdrawal.

Additionally, in keeping with health and safety protocols, beneficiaries were ushered to the pay-out location in batches.

Through digital innovation and RBANK’s coordination with the LGU and DSWD, the SAP payout in Laurel, Batangas proved to be a success.

RBank, with the help of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Legazpi Savings Bank (LSB) has also begun the distribution of the SAP payout in different municipalities in Albay. According to LSB President Mykel D. Abad, being tapped as a partner of DSWD is a “great opportunity as LSB has always aspired to be of help to those in need.”

  • Shopee Sees Growth In Digital Payments as Filipinos Adjust to the New Normal

Shopee Sees Growth In Digital Payments as Filipinos Adjust to the New Normal

While 70% of purchases made through digital payments were by younger users, Shopee also saw an increased adoption among users aged over 50

Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, saw an acceleration in digital payments as Filipinos fulfill more daily needs online amidst the ongoing pandemic. Shopee saw an increase in the number of digital payments made on the platform since the beginning of the pandemic. More people paid for their purchases via credit cards, bank transfers, and ShopeePay. According to a Boston Consulting Group report, this trend will continue as more Southeast Asian households embrace digital payments during and after Covid-19.

Martin Yu, Associate Director at Shopee Philippines, said, “2020 has brought about significant shifts in the way we live, work and shop online. Among these shifts is the accelerated move towards a cashless society across the region. In line with social distancing efforts, we see consumers embracing digital payments for greater convenience and security. Local governments are also stepping up their efforts to encourage this move. Similarly, Shopee continues to offer a wide range of digital payment options to cater to evolving needs, including ShopeePay, our mobile wallet.”

Shopee outlines three observations on digital payments in the Philippines:

    1. Increased adoption of digital payments among older users: 70% of the total number of purchases made using digital payments were by users between the ages of 18 to 34. However, older users are also starting to adopt digital payments when shopping online. Shopee observed a 100% increase in the number of ShopeePay transactions among users over the age of 50. Given that older users typically find it harder to adapt to digital payments, this heartening trend illustrates the ease of use of ShopeePay and the trust it has built among users.
    2. Men’s adoption of digital payments is higher than women: Men increasingly value the convenience and security of digital payments. Over the past year, the rate of growth in the adoption of digital payments is 80% higher for men than for women.
    3. Digital payments are more prevalent in urban cities: The National Capital Region (NCR) has the highest digital payment adoption. Larger cities, which are critical drivers of the Philippines’ economic growth, have better connectivity and a more developed IT infrastructure. Individuals in these cities also have better accessibility to smartphones, contributing to the adoption of digital payments.

Shopee is committed to meeting the needs of its users. Through its integrated mobile wallet, ShopeePay, Shopee strives to ensure that users can shop and pay with ease. In addition to the ease of use, ShopeePay offers several benefits to users, including convenience, a seamless user experience, security, and more significant cost savings.

Convenient and easy to top-up: ShopeePay is easy to top-up through a variety of methods. These include online banking, payment centers, and over-the-counter bank transactions. Through ShopeePay, users can make online payments, top-up their wallets, transfer, and withdraw funds.

Safe and secure payment method: ShopeePay follows the highest security standards. An automated registration process protects the user, and there is also a dedicated 24h Customer Service team.

Greater cost savings with ShopeePay promotions: ShopeePay users can enjoy the following regular promotions:

    • Mobile Load: New users can earn 30 coins when they buy ₱100 worth of load, while regular users get big discounts when they buy load via ShopeePay.
    • Bills Payment: Users can claim 150 to 350 coins (with ₱800 minimum spend) when they pay their utility bills via ShopeePay.
    • ShopeePay Day: Users can enjoy free shipping with ₱0 minimum spend on ShopeePay Thursdays. They can also enjoy up to 20% off discount with minimum spending of ₱200.

Yu closed, “As more consumers turn to our platform to stay connected and fulfill their daily needs, we are committed to leveraging our key strengths to help consumers adapt to the new normal. We want to provide our users with easy access to digital payment services such as ShopeePay, through an integrated and secure ecosystem.”

Download Shopee for free through the App Store or Google Play.

For me, it’s advisable make digital payments when it is needed especially during this time of COVID-19 Pandemic but always be careful and keep safe in doing this transactions to avoid fraud and other incidental matters.

Robinsons Bank assures service amid crisis, enhances digital services for better banking experience

While the entirety of the Philippines is under a State of Calamity due to the COVID-19 virus, Robinsons Bank (RBank) has taken immediate adequate steps to ensure that it maintains its excellent banking services for its various customers and stakeholders amid the COVID-19 crisis.

RBankers: A resilient workforce offering their dedication to serve amidst crisis

As the first two (2) weeks of the quarantine’s implementation became a handful for the majority of businesses, RBank strived to deliver the same quality of services that it has provided since.

In the beginning of the ECQ, 62% of RBank’s branch network nationwide continued to operate to ensure that there is an easily accessible bank that can cater to clients’ needs. Furthermore, 92% of RBank ATMs replenished consistently to serve various communities across the nation. Customers can also find RBank’s “24R Hub” – the bank’s 24/7 digital bank hubs in strategic locations, which will allow them to withdraw and deposit cash, and pay bills via RBank Digital (online banking).

RBank’s Cash Management Services remain in the service of its corporate clients.  The Bank’s corporate online banking platform, e2Banking, continues to service corporate and SME customers enabling clients to have online access to their balances and transaction history. They can remotely facilitate their fund transfer requests not only to Robinsons Bank accounts but to other accounts with any local bank.

In support of the “Bayanihan To Heal as One Act,” RBank has expanded coverage of the grace period for all corporate loans, consumer loans, and credit card payments with due dates from March 16 to May 15, 2020.  The loan grace period has nationwide coverage and provides various concessions to ease clients with the burden brought about by the crisis, such as waived penalties and fees on returned checks and the suspension of auto-debit and PDC payments during the ECQ period.

Moreover, the Bank has continued to lower its transaction fees from Php 25.00 to now only one-peso, providing customers with a “Piso-fee promo” for online fund transfers of PesoNet and InstaPay.

RBank is also enhancing RBank Digital, its online banking platform to provide users with a mobile banking experience that’s like no other.

“While we urge the country to limit face-to-face interactions to mitigate the spread of the virus, RBank has made it easier for you to enjoy your banking experience in the safety of your homes.  More than ever, we strive to enhance your personal online banking experience with our RBank Digital, our online banking platform to offer you accessible and convenient banking that’s just at your fingertips.” Robinsons Bank’s statement reads

Expanding digital efforts to cater to your needs

Last April 23, RBank has introduced RBank Sign Up – the mobile app that allows you to open a new bank account online.  The new app proves that banking is all about ease and convenience. It only requires one government ID, and it uses facial recognition and real time ID detection for a fast, easy, and secure experience.

With RBank Sign Up, clients can apply for an RBank account wherever and whenever – free of charge! Bank details can be received within minutes of signing up, and yes— there’s no need to go to the branch.
