    Philippine Ballet Theatre fans and dance lovers are thrilled of the upcoming SARIMANOK classical ballet show at Samsung Arts Theater this July 6 – 7, 2024.

    Philippine Ballet Theatre will showcase the rich ethnic glory and diversity of the Philippines through a fusion of classical ballet, regional dances, and mythology with the generous support of Philippine Airlines and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.


    The goal of the Philippine Ballet Theatre is to share the captivating tale of Sarimanok, a bird from Filipino Mindanao mythology. This mythical creature, known for its vibrant feathers and enchanting presence, takes center stage in a ballet that transcends time and culture. The ballet tells the love story between a mortal and a moon goddess, revolving around the majestic Sarimanok.

    Sarimanok symbolizes hope and abundant blessings, and Philippine Ballet Theatre sees the ballet as a divine gift. Through this performance, they aim to generate interest in our cultural heritage and showcase the talent of our current artists. Sarimanok is the artistic vision of Ronilo Jaynario, the Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, set to the original music composed by Paulo Zarate, a highly acclaimed composer. Jaynario and Zarate aspire for ballet, like Sarimanok, to become a symbol of hope and an investment in the Filipino people.


    Jaynario explained, “Ibalon made a powerful impact on both the audience and the performers. It received excellent reviews and accolades that any dance company would aspire to have. Therefore, our challenge is achieving the same impact level as Sarimanok. Creating such an impact is vital to us as a company”

    Inspiration for the ballet comes from the story itself, the dancers’ response to my movement that enhances the process, and the music that moves me in creating the choreography. I am incredibly grateful that Paulo Zarate is composing for PBT’s Sarimanok.”

    Jessa Tangalin and Gladys Baybayin will share the role of the mythical Sarimanok. Alternating as the romantic couple of Indarapatra and Moon Goddess will be Matthew Davo and Gabrielle Jaynario and Jimmy Lumba and Joni Galeste.

    With Sarimanok being the second Full-length Filipino ballet in a row, PBT hopes to send out a strong message that their commitment to creating a national influence through their art is ablaze.

    URC Flour hosts a Feast of Tradition: Sariaya’s Pinagong Eating Makes History at the Agawan Festival

    (SARIAYA, QUEZON – PHILIPPINES) – Recently, the 25th Agawan Festival in Sariaya, Quezon, concluded with a unique and delicious twist this year with the first-ever Pinagong eating activity hosted by Universal Robina Corporation, Flour Division. This exciting event saw a record-breaking 1,800 participants, a mix of Sariaya locals and enthusiastic tourists, come together to celebrate the town’s famed “Pinagong” bread.

    Led by Mayor Marcelo Gayeta himself, the Pinagong Eating activity added a lively new chapter to the vibrant Agawan Festival. The name “Pinagong,” meaning “turtle” in Tagalog, reflects the bread’s distinctive shape. This sweet bread, a local favorite, boasts a soft, fluffy texture and a delicate flavor that has won the hearts (and stomachs) of Sariaya for generations.

    Naida Ebora, Sales, Marketing and Distribution Director of Universal Robina Corporation Flour Division graced the event together with other URC representatives to congratulate the town of Sariaya as they celebrate their annual Agawan Festival.

    “Ang URC ay nagagalak at kami ay kasalo ninyo sa pagdiriwang ng inyong 25th Agawan Festival 2024. Mula ng itayo namin ang aming planta dito sa bayan ng Sariaya na matatagpuan sa Barangay Talaan, pinakita na ninyo ang inyong mainit na pagtanggap. Kaya naman ibinabalik namin ito sa pagiging partner ng Sariaya para sa mas maganda, mas malaki at mas pinasaya na Agawan Festival 2024” said Ebora.

    URC’s sponsorship of the Agawan Festival 2024 coincides with the official opening of their flour mills and blending facilities this year, which is located in Barangay Talaan, Aplaya Road in Sariaya, Quezon.

    “Tunay ngang kakaiba ang ating pagdiriwang dahil tayong lahat ay kasama na sa kasaysayan dahil sa symbolic na pagkain ng Pinagong Bread kung saan sama-sama, ipapakita natin na marami tayong magagawa pag tayo ay nagkakaisa. Ngayon na nandito na ang URC Flour Division sa bayan ng Sariaya, makakaasa kayo na ang mga naglipanang bakery sa inyong bayan ay makakagamit ng aming mga produkto upang mas lalong pasarapin hindi lang ng inyong Pinagong Bread, kung hindi pati na rin ang iba pa ninyongbread products” added Ebora.

    WINNERS OF PAGANDAHAN SA SAYAWAN. The winning barangay with Mayora Marivic Gayeta proudly displayed their winning upcycled costume, including upcycled URC Flour sacks.

    Aside from the historic Pinagong Eating activity, URC also sponsored products and cash prizes for the Pagandahan sa Sayawan where participants get to showcase their creativity as they incorporate used URC Flour sacks in their costumes and the exciting Surpresa sa Bagakay, which allowed Sariayahin a chance to win home appliances and URC products.

    Participants of all ages came together, laughing, cheering, and enjoying the camaraderie as they savored the unique taste of Pinagong. The success of the Pinagong Eating activity is a testament to the creativity and spirit of Sariaya. It’s an innovative way to showcase the town’s delectable local food while fostering a sense of fun and community spirit.

    Mayor Marcelo Gayeta who led the festivities with his family and the members of the local government unit of Sariaya has nothing but praise for URC Flour.

Sariaya Mayor Marcelo Gayeta and his family, together with the representatives of Universal Robina Corporation, Flour Division raises the “Pinagong” bread, symbolizing that in unity there is strength. This is the first time that the “Pinagong” eating activity was included in the town’s colorful and exciting festivities.

    “Ang bayan ng Sariaya ay nagpapasalamat sa Universal Robina Corporation dahil ngayong taon, mas pinaganda, pinalaki at pinasaya ang ating taunang Agawan Festival dahil sa kanilang suporta. Makakaasa kayo na ang aming bayan lalo na sa mga kumpanyang nagdadala ng negosyo at investments ay magkakaroon ng maayos at mabilis na transaksyon pag dating sa serbisyong inyong kailangan na magmumula sa aking tanggapan” said Mayor Gayeta.

    The National Book Development Board (NBDB)’s Philippine Book Festival (PBF) held on April 25 – 28, 2024 at World Trade Center Metro Manila is one of the grandest PBF this year 2024 entitled “PHILIPPINE BOOK FESTIVAL 2024”, “It’s Not Just A Book Fair, It’s a Book Experience.”

    For me, it’s not just a book fair but it’s great art and book experience to witness the authors, publishers, artists, poet, creators, influencers, actors, book lovers and others personalities showing their great support to the Philippine Book Festival 2024. The exhibitors and guests were glad and enjoyed supporting the books, arts and creations related to Philippine literature, culture, entertainment, art, education, poetry and lifestyle in general showcase in the Philippine Book Festival at World Trade Center Metro Manila. They were thrilled to greet and meet their favorite authors, artists, actors, leaders, influencers and other personalities in the PBF 2024.

    Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, Senate of the Philippines, delivered a speech and mentioned of her support of the Philippine Book Festival. She also encourages everyone to support Philippine Book Festival and make it viral as many stories, and she would relish the sight of children going back to reading books, and reading the books written published by Filipino authors and Filipino publishers.
