HABITAT WATCH BY SWATCH: BLOCKS OF TIME TO BUILD A HOME

The Habitat for Humanity, Youth Council and Swatch has successfully launched this season of joy and giving the Habitat Watch by Swatch: Blocks of Time to Build a Home last December 7, 2011 at the Gallery, Greenbelt 5, Ayala Center, Makati City.

Habitat for Humanity Philippines embarks on a four-year initiative to celebrate its coming 25 years of helping families in need of decent homes in sustainable communities. They serve as a unifying catalyst to create a community building and development model. They also provide innovative and sustainable housing solutions to achieve milestones in uplifting the Filipino family.

The campaign of Habitat for Humanity Philippines are as follows:

1. Disaster Response and Risk Mitigation – They identify and assess the needs of families living in disaster-prone areas and provide immediate and long-term solutions through their Disaster Preparedness, Response Initiativenes and Resettlement and Rehabilitation Program.

2. Urban Renewal and Development – According to them, they uplift Filipino families living in densely populated areas suffering from inadequate water, exposure to health risks and displacement by providing decent shelter in healthy communities.

3. Housing for Public Servants – They honor their devoted public servants such as their public school teachers and firefighters by giving them access to simple, decent and affordable housing programs in dignified communities.

4. Peace Build – It is their mission to unify the Filipino people by bringing together citizens of different creeds, faith and backgrounds to join hands in developing sustainable communities through building schools, homes; providing medical care, trauma support, capacity building workshops; and empowering women and children.
