THE ULTIMATE BATTLE – SKECHERS STREETDANCE BATTLE 7

The ultimate battle is on! Last September 17, 2011, the Skechers Streetdance Battle opened the grounds once more to close to 100 dance crews in an all-out dance battle.  Skechers has been bringing together the country’s finest talents in the biggest, toughest and hottest dance competition since 2005.

On its 7th year, Skechers Streetdance Battle pulled out all the stops at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Pasay City for the Grand kick-off party and the start of the eliminations. A total of 12 college dance crews pit their sharpened stunts and well-oiled moves against each other for their shot at eternal glory.

The twelve (12) college dance crews participated are from Our Lady Fatima University – Valenzuela City (Fatima Dance Troupe), University of the Philippines – Manila (UP Manila Indayog Dance Varsity), Technological Institute of the Philippines – Quezon City (TIP Talents Guild), De La Salle University – Dasmarinas (DLSU-D Vibrant Beat), Our Lady of Fatima University – Quezon City (Performing Arts Guild of Fatima), De La Salle – Calunbang (Lucid Dance Troupe), Trace College – Los Banos (Trace Dance Company), Manila Tytana Colleges (MTC Bailadores), Sienna College – Taytay (Rythmycs Dance Company), Philippine Women’s University (PWU-CCAMS Dance Club), Olivarez College (OC Performing Arts) and University of the Philippines – Los Banos (Wyre Underground of UPLB).

In fact, University of the Philippines – Los Banos (Wyre Underground of UPLB), Olivarez College (OC Performing Arts) and University of the Philippines – Manila (UP Manila Indayog Dance Varsity) are the dance crews who made for the grand finals of the Final Battle on November 12, 2011.

The annual Streetdance Battle has become more than just a dance competition. It has become the proving ground for the country’s up-and-coming dance crews. It has become the catapult to street dance greatness.

The next elimination legs’ arena on September 24 and 25, 2011 is the SM Megamall. Next is at SM North EDSA, The Block then hosts the next elimination legs on October 2, 8 and 9, 2011. The Final Battle is set for November 12, 2011 at the Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City where the finalists will battle for dance supremacy.

Last year’s competition set a lot of firsts as the Ateneo’s Company of Ateneo Dancers (CADS) finally bagged the top prize after coming in third and second the past years. Will the new champs defend their title this year? Or is UP Diliman’s previous dynasty scheduled for a comeback? With more crews participating this year, dance history is bound to be rewritten again.

This year’s ultimate battle brings the school spirit to the forefront with an online voting component. Fellow students, fans, family and friends can show their support online to decide the People’s Choice award powered by Juice.ph. To make things even hotter, Skechers arranged for a dance clinic headed by Fil-Am international dance celebrity, Dumbo of POREOTICS—the winner of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 7 to prepare them for battle.

The Kick Off party, hosted by Sam YG and Show Suzuki  featured  the Philippine All-Stars and The Crew as guest performers to serve as inspirations to the dance crews present. Promos and special limited edition shirts were available for the taking. And to top it off, a great joint-promo with SM Department Stores and Skechers Concept Stores was announced:

•             A minimum purchase of 2,500-pesos worth of Skechers Footwear in SM Department Stores and               Skechers Concept Stores from September 15-30 entitles customers to be the first to purchase a maximum of two (2) Skechers Streetdance Battle Year 7 (SSB7) preferred seat Final Battle tickets          by presenting the receipt of purchase any time during the pre-selling period of October 1 – 16,                 2011 at participating SM Ticketnet outlets.
